Privacy Policy

The short version

We store the dates and details you give us so we can remind your household and send the cards you ask us to send. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't email the people in your list unless you press a button that says so.

What we collect

• Account: your email, display name, and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider).
• Household data: the dates, names, notes, to-dos, and optional contact emails or phone numbers you add for the people you want to remember.
• E-cards: the recipient's name and email, the card text, when it was opened, and any reaction they tap.
• Notifications: if you turn on push notifications, a device token that lets us deliver them to that browser or phone.
• Billing: your subscription status and Stripe customer ID, or, for subscriptions bought in the iPhone app, the Apple transaction ID. Card numbers go directly to Stripe or Apple; we never see or store them.
• Basics: standard server logs (IP address, browser type) kept briefly for security and debugging.

Who can see your household's dates

Every member of your household — up to five people who joined with your invite code. Each household's data is isolated by database-level access rules; members of other households can't see it, and neither can card recipients. Only invite people you trust, and remove anyone who shouldn't have access by emailing support.

How we use it

• Sending reminder emails and push notifications to household members at the times you set.
• Writing reminder text, gift ideas, and card drafts with an AI model. The event details and notes you saved are sent to the model for that purpose only; they are not used to train it.
• Delivering e-cards to the recipient you chose, and telling you when they open or react.
• Sending friend invitations only when you explicitly type someone's email and press Send.
• Account emails you'd expect: confirmation, password reset, billing receipts.

Services we rely on

DateKeeper runs on a small set of providers, each handling only what it needs to: Supabase (database, authentication, hosting of our server functions), Vercel (web hosting), Resend (email delivery), Stripe and Apple (payments), Anthropic (AI-written text), and GIPHY (animated GIFs in reminders and cards; a short search phrase is sent, never your personal data). No advertising networks, no cross-site trackers.

Your choices

• Edit or delete any date, reminder, or card at any time in the app.
• Turn push notifications off per device in Settings.
• Change the reminder tone, including a no-humor option.
• Delete your account from Settings. It's permanent: your profile is removed, and if you're the last member, so are your household's dates, reminders, and cards. Backups roll off within 30 days.
• Ask for a copy of your data by emailing support.

Card recipients and invited friends

If someone sent you a card or an invitation, we hold your email only to deliver that one message and to show the sender it was opened. We don't add you to any list. Ignore it and you won't hear from us again.

Retention and security

Data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Everything travels over HTTPS and is stored encrypted at rest by our providers. Private links (cards, one-tap email actions) use long random tokens and grant only the single action they're for.

Children

DateKeeper is for adults. Family members under 13 shouldn't have their own account — add their birthdays to yours instead.
